Peppermint Oil

Peppermint is a hybrid mint, a cross between water mint and spearmint. It is an indigenous plant from Europe and the Middle East, although it is now widespread and cultivated worldwide.

 

This popular flavouring has a variety of uses in herbal tradition, and its use goes back thousands of years. A couple of drops can be added to a glass of water or a cup of hot water for a soothing, refreshing after-meal drink as well as a digestive aid. Or just as an invigorating morning pick-me-up! Peppermint (mentha x piperita) has a strong, minty aroma, and has cooling and stimulating properties - a spot of peppermint oil on the temples can be used to 'clear the head' and help to soothe tension.
