Hawthorn berries, also known as “haws” have been used to make wine and to flavour brandy for years, but not many people are aware of the extensive research that has been done in relation to the berries’ effects on the circulatory system.
What are the benefits?
Researchers have identified that Hawthorn Berries contain specific types of antioxidants, which protect the cardiovascular systems cells from oxidative stress (free radical damage). The berries should be taken over a period of time for their full nutritional benefits to be realised. They contain vitamins C and B complex, crataegin, carotene and flavonoids.
