Did You Know?
There are two types of fibre which perform important functions within the body. Insoluble fibre sweeps the intestines clean of waste material. Soluble fibre binds with fatty acids and prolongs stomach emptying time so that sugar is released more slowly. Between them they bring many health benefits to the digestive and circulatory systems. Fibre is a vital part of a healthy diet, but it’s not always easy to obtain as much daily fibre as you need.
As part of a healthy diet, experts recommend consuming a minimum of at least 20-35 grams of dietary fibre each day, but many people get less than half that amount in their diet. Fibre’s most common benefit is the regularity that it promotes, and high fibre diets have also been shown to reduce the risk of certain health conditions. Keeping regular also helps you to feel more comfortable and means that toxins are less likely to be reabsorbed into the blood stream.
